Work Day Volunteer

Most of Rebuilding Together Quad Cities' work happens in April, which is National Rebuilding Month, and typically also on a couple of weekends in September during our fall work days. We also do projects throughout the year based upon availability of funding and sufficiently skilled volunteers.

Who Volunteers for Work Days?

  • Skilled Trades professional volunteers are the backbone of our rebuilding efforts, providing materials and technical know-how with everything from roofing to plumbing, assessment to planning.
  • Service Volunteers step in when there are large projects that require comparatively little experience. Examples include cleaning, painting, landscaping, moving furniture and appliances, etc.
  • Support Volunteers provide everything from hospitality on project days to homeowner support to other professional support services like accounting, IT services, legal and other additional outreach services.
  • People with Leadership experience and skills commensurate with the project scope are also needed to serve as the House Captain, or team leader for the project. Training is provided.

We have a wide variety of projects and as such, we accept volunteers of all skill levels. Everyone can play a part in making a difference in our community!

Join a Committee or Task Force

Work days don't just happen. They take a lot of planning. We also haven't found a pouch of money tree seeds yet, so the work we do also requires that we undertake fund-raising activities to support our mission. We typically accomplish these tasks through the use of volunteer committees and/or task forces. We are always welcome additional help for these activities. Committees tend to be year round commitments with time required varying by committee. Task forces tend to be shorter duration but often involve a higher time commitment.

Join the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors has recently voted to increase the size of our all volunteer Board of Directors. We are doing this for three primary reasons: [1] to increase the capacity of the Board to support an ambitious growth strategy, [2] to diversify the Board both in terms of demographics and unique skill contributions of each Board member, and [3] to create a more robust talent pipeline to fill key Officer and other Leadership positions.
